US Office of the Secretary of the Interior is Hiring an IT Cybersecurity Specialist Near Reston, VA

Duties

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assist system/business owners in the development of the security plan and system and other authorization documents.
  • Coordinate, implement, and enforce IT security policies, procedures, standards, and guidance consistent with Federal requirements.
  • Collaborate with enterprise-wide stakeholders for IT systems, networks, and IT assets.
  • Perform assessment support activities (or functions) to ensure IT security maintenance and to enhance the security posture of IT systems.
  • Exercise significant responsibilities engaging with leadership across the Division, Office, Bureau, and Department.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and with beginning and ending dates of employment (month/year) and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Preparing and delivering cybersecurity-related briefings to senior management, peers, and staff; assessing and remediating security and privacy controls in accordance with applicable National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications; implementing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process or parts of the RMF; identifying system vulnerabilities; and Implementing Risk Management Framework (RMF)/Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) requirements for information systems within the enterprise, and documenting and maintaining records for them. Applying advanced IT cybersecurity principles, concepts, standards, and practices and technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other specialists on critical cybersecurity issues and security control implementation strategies.
